Red Egg & Ginger Invitations
These invitations were created to mark the celebration of the first year of Kaylee Kang's life. In Chinese culture, a Red Egg & Ginger party is a celebration of a child's first birthday. This is when proud parents present their child to their friends and family and is often when the baby's name is announced. Traditionally, guests are given red-dyed eggs—a symbol of happiness and the renewal of life.
For the design, I chose to include an illustration of a dragon to represent Kaley's birth year (the year of the dragon). I chose to use traditional red and gold colors, but also included complimentary pastels to invoke a playful and youthful feel. To make the design more feminine, I added a subtle floral background and had it printed with a die-cut scalloped edge. I handled all aspects of production including design, illustration and print production.
